1. «STS Journaling Past and Future" conference at the University of California Irvine

On December 12, 2022, the "STS Journaling Past and Future Celebrating East Asian Science, Technology and Society: An International Journal* conference was held, virtual and in-person, at the University of Califomia Irvine. Professor Kim Fortun, Professor of Anthropology at UCI and former 4S President, helped us organize this whole-day seminar as an opportunity to reflect upon, celebrate and plan for the future of EASTS. In addition to discussing the accomplishments of the journal in the past as well as expected challenges in the future by the outgoing and incoming editors in chief, we also explored the significance of regionally situated STS journals through the presentation by Rodolfo Hernandez on the future potential of extending multilingualism in STS publications. Remarks by Angela Okune on the future potential of research data sharing in STS publications opened lively discussions on STS perspectives on open science. We were united on the idea that we must collaborate with other journals to push forward a digital infrastructure to facilitate open access. The meeting ended as a great success, in which committed scholars from across the Pacific were able to exchange thoughts and engage in highly inspiring conversations.
