About the Speech

In this talk, I will reflect on the latest turns in American energy policy in the light of STS’s prior work on sociotechnical imaginaries. What changes and what remains the same as societies absorb technological developments has been a question of theoretical concern in STS. The case of nuclear power offers an opportunity for a relatively longue durée look at this question through the lens of one technological sector that has evolved in tandem with American power and politics since the mid-twentieth century.
